The Seal and Expunge Process- The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) provides a service in which certain criminal records can be expunged (removed from records) or sealed (placed under highly restricted access). Some juvenile reports are not public record without an original birth certificate and proper identification. Chapter 119.00 outlines the criteria of what is considered as public record therefore, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is required to release information according to the public records laws. Record copies of incident/offense reports filed with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office can be obtained from the Records Division and are released according to Florida State Statute 119.00, Public Records.
