Geek Uninstaller, for example, performed equally well in terms of removing applications, but it has several limitations compared to IObit. While paying for a Pro license does give you access to extra features, it isn’t necessary for simply uninstalling and updating apps. IObit does everything that you could ask of an uninstaller and compares favorably to similar tools that we’ve tested for reviews. It’s unclear whether turnaround times are better for Pro subscribers, but in any case, most users should be able to use the application without encountering any serious problems that would require one-on-one support. Surprisingly, even though the website advertises technical support as a paid feature, you can still submit support tickets without a Pro subscription. IObit also has support forums but they don’t appear to be active. There’s also a separate FAQ section with quick answers to common questions-for example, changing the application’s language or removing Chrome plugins. It can help you get started, uninstall programs, check for updates, and more. The user manual contains roughly 25 articles on a variety of features and processes. The IObit Uninstaller User Manual is a great place to start if you run into any issues while using the application (Image credit: IObit Uninstaller) Fortunately, the application didn’t have any technical issues during our testing, and the online manual is an excellent resource for free users. SupportĪs mentioned, technical support is currently only available for Pro subscribers, with licenses starting at roughly $15 per month. All things considered, IObit Uninstaller is relatively easy to use compared to most alternatives. That said, the application is intuitive, and the tabs on the left offer a simple organization. The interface itself isn’t particularly sleek, even looking slightly low-res compared to other apps we’ve tested. Dashlane is a decent app on its own, but unsuspecting users could easily install it without intending to, and it’s somewhat deceptive to ask users to “accept” an entirely different platform from the one they downloaded. That said, the installer subtly asked us to “accept” the installation of Dashlane while setting up IObit. IObit is easy to uninstall, and the file itself is just a 22.9 MB download. We highly recommend Revo Uninstaller Portable, particularly for its ability to find and remove those annoying leftovers other tools miss.IObit has a simple, clean interface that makes it easy to find what you’re looking for (Image credit: IObit Uninstaller) Interface and in use This versatile tool packs some extras, too, such as an Autorun Manager. An extensive PDF-based Help file as well as online resources helped us get the most out of Revo without causing any problems. Revo Uninstaller Portable is easy to use, as uninstallers ought to be, but it displays more information and performs more powerful actions than most tools of its type, so naturally we recommend using it with care. It turned up three rogue files and gave us several opportunities to make absolutely sure it was safe to delete them. After it ran the program's uninstaller, we clicked Next to start Revo's deep scan. We chose the Advanced mode, which automatically created a System Restore Point. Revo offers four modes: using built-in uninstallers, a Safe mode that builds on the built-in method with a scan for leftovers, a Moderate mode that adds a quick registry scan, and an Advanced mode that makes a deep scan but takes a bit longer. Another unique option is a Hunter mode that let us target apps in the crosshairs of a desktop icon or switch to a furnace icon that we could drag programs into for digital incineration. The first thing we noticed when we opened Revo is that it doesn't look like any other uninstaller we've tried, though it can, if we wanted to make it so: we could toggle between the default icon view to list and detail views. Like the installed version, Revo Portable offers much more versatility than most other uninstaller programs, including several levels of thoroughness that can scour your system for the files and folders other uninstallers leave behind. It's from PortableApps, which specializes in producing versatile portable versions of popular open-source freeware. Revo Uninstaller Portable is a portable freeware version of Revo Uninstaller.
